Send More Paramedics are a cult British zombie film-influenced crossover thrash band formed in Leeds, England, in 2001. Inspired by the aesthetics and mythology of zombie cinema—particularly George A. Romero’s iconic Living Dead films—the band fuse hardcore punk and thrash metal with horror-themed lyrics and theatrical live performances, creating their own subgenre: zombiecore. Taking their name from a quote in The Return of the Living Dead, Send More Paramedics embrace a fully immersive concept. Performing in zombie makeup and adopting undead stage personas, the band build a mythology around a post-apocalyptic world where the dead have risen and punk is the last surviving soundtrack.
Musically, they blend the raw aggression of early 1980s crossover thrash with the grimy theatricality of horror punk, drawing comparisons to bands like The Misfits, Municipal Waste, and early Slayer. Their discography includes the influential albums A Feast for the Fallen (2002), The Hallowed and the Heathen (2004), and The Awakening (2006), all of which solidify their place as underground icons. After a farewell tour in 2007, Send More Paramedics briefly disband but leave behind a fiercely loyal fanbase and a lasting influence on both horror punk and the UK hardcore scene. They reunited in 2014 and again in 2021, producing the album The Final Feast and a four-date mini-tour (working with the fine people at [BOOM] Leeds, and W.A.H.R.'s Dan Phillips) — proving that you can’t keep a good zombie down.
